Migraine #Tanka

Throbbing tension stabs

Ache subsides then crests again

Muscles constricted

Needfully head held in hands

Yearning for anguish to end

A Tanka for Colleen’s Tuesday challenge (yes I know its Sunday)…the week’s demands have not allowed me to give this challenge any time until now. I wrote this as a haiku after experiencing a migraine, another repercussion of the week’s stress! Realised I could shift it to a Tanka and take on the challenge, which requires the use of synonyms for ‘eager’ and ‘hope’, I chose ‘needfully’ and ‘yearning’.

Gratitude Whirling

This week has been full of pain.

Physical & inescapable.

Insight waxes & wanes.

I am not capable.

But instead of spiralling,

Avoided melancholy.

A gratitude whirling,

Keeping me jolly.

You see I’m surrounded,

By those who care.

A wonder unbounded,

Making life fair.

Pain

Pain brings despair.

As the spasms flare.

I try not to care.

But I am laid bare.

Yet slowly I grope,

And try not to mope.

Discovering hope,

And know I can cope.

Of Pain

Electric bolt

Stabbing jolt

Aching

Undulating

Sore

Racked with pain

Unhelpful brain

Stinging

Whinging
