Friends & Family

Let me speak of the wonderful,

Linkages and interactions.

Those that bring joyous distractions.

Whose company I am grateful.

Their constancy always thoughtful.

Of course I speak of friends not foes,

And dear family who did sow;

A love that grows and will not rot.

I am entwined in bless’ed knots,

I will not cut, yes this I know!

For the Ronovan Decima challenge – this week the prompt is knot.

This is not a spoon

Echoes of innocence
Stir at its sight.
Jelly and icecream
And my delight.

Of days of play
And summer’s light.
Clowning around
And all things right.

This is in response to ‘not a prompt’ from dverse – thank you fine blogger! My this is not… is a spoon from my childhood.

For my American friends Jelly in the UK is a pudding best served with ice cream 🤤

Summers Morning

Glorious Morning,
domed by blue,
enwrapped in dew.

A gentle breeze's
fresh embrace,
embodies grace.

Sunlight scatters
through the trees
and sadness flees.

In that moment
spirit rises
as nature sympathises.

In the bleak mid winter its hard to recall the warmth and comfort of the summer. I came across this poem scribbled on a scrap of paper from back in August last year. It reminded me that time will inevitably shift us back to days like this and that lifted my spirits. So I thought I would share in the hope it will do the same for you.

Submitted for a lovely exercise on a blog I recently found – check them out it seems to be a lovely community – dVerse.

Chaotic Thought

Chaotic thought,

Buffets my mind.

I fear I’m caught,

In a mental bind.

Been here before,

And know what to do.

But motivations sore,

My inspiration flew.

Creeping toward,

Melancholy’s trap.

Where my reward,

Is anxiety’s flap.

All I can do,

Is patiently wait.

For cheer to brew,

And not be too late!
