Saying No

When a task is asked of me,

I hate to say no.

It makes me defensive,

As I HATE to say no!

It’s born from a value,

That goodwill is sown,

Granting everyone’s wishes,

At the expense of my own!

This approach has served,

To be beneficial,

But has also devalued;

Made my worth superficial.

I believe confrontation,

Is something to avoid,

And also I hate it,

When others devoid;

Of any responsibility,

Sit back and complain.

I’d rather be fixing,

But it can be in vain.

I don’t hold all the answers,

At times I need you to lead,

And not always expect,

My willingness to feed.
